Superb Design
If you have looked at his streams and video sessions, his chair must have grabbed your attention with its sleek, stylish, and futuristic design. The very look of the chair is tech-inspired.
A lot of thought has gone into creating that look. It’s not just about how attractive it looks but also about its dynamic working.
As per the manufacturers, posture is fundamental for comfortable sitting. Going by this thought, they have created this chair that acts like a system. The system and its operation are similar to the human body.
To bring out the best of the design, Steelcase focused on three primary areas.
(i) The core interface: This comprises the back and the seat, both of which move in a synchronized manner, thereby providing continuous and persistent support. The back’s design cradles and supports the user’s back irrespective of the posture or the device he/she may be using.
(ii) The seat: The seat is ultra-comfortable, deep enough, wide enough and flexible so that users can sit in any posture.
(iii) The limb: This relates to the arms or the armrests, that move like actual human arms. So you can change your arms position as much as you want without getting uncomfortable and stiff.
(Of course, we will discuss these in further details to help you understand more about this fantastic chair)
Adjustability
Multiple customizations are possible with the Gesture, particularly with the armrests. This gaming chair offers the most flexible armrests you can find to date.
You can move them up and down, adjust their width, swivel them, and also move them forward or back. There is a sweeping range of motions for these handsets. The seat pan’s depth can also be changed.
It’s your call to buy this chair with or without the lumbar support. However, buying it with the lumbar backing is not mandatory since the built-in curvature already provides enough support. Increase the height of the backrest and access the four different tilt positions that are there.
Note: The chair is well suited for tall people.
Build Quality and Set-up
The chair ranks on the top going by its built quality. It is well put together. Each part of the unit is made with high-quality material and has consistency throughout, even the chair’s bottom.
Though the chair has a few plastic elements on it, they are well balanced, making the chair reliable.
The Gesture performs way better than many other ergonomic chairs in the market and is designed well. Even though NICKMERCS shared nothing about the chair’s comfort in any of his videos, it can be noted how easily he moves on it.
Unlike other gaming chairs that come with DIY assembly instructions, Gesture is shipped completely assembled. You only need to remove the minimal packaging from the box, and you are done.
Durability
The chair has high durability, and as per its users, it does not go through any wear and tear anytime soon. The entire unit is built solidly, leaving very little chance for any part of the chair to break down. If that’s not enough for you, the chair does come with a twelve-year warranty!
Core Equalizer

One of the pains of sitting on a chair for a long time is the lower back pain that erupts. This is mostly because your back does not get the support it requires from a daily office chair.
So gaming and streaming from just another chair can render your back numb. Thankfully, Steelcase Gesture comes with a curved backrest. The lower back portion of this chair is a tad bit elevated than the rest. This shape gives way to the core equalizer, one of the most desirable features of this chair.
The chair’s torso area has a spring attached that adjusts with the seat’s angle and the backrest. This arrangement provides the ideal lumbar support when the user is sitting in an upright position. Though it allows for less lumbar support once you lean back, it’s enough to enable a deep recline.
Adaptive bolstering
The Gesture’s seat is something more than just a comfortable and soft surface. It has air pockets right beneath the foam that makes the seat all the more comfortable. Thus, users of any size and weight can get comfortable.

Gesture tops most ergonomic chairs in the market, but its price starts from about $1000, which is a bit expensive, especially if you have a tight budget.
However, the advantages of this chair overpowers the few disadvantages that it has. The seat depth and height adjustment, upper back force, adjustable arms core equalizer all make it worth buying this unit.

Is Steelcase Gesture the perfect gaming chair for you?
Our Honest thoughts – This Chair does not look like a Gaming Chair and look more like an Office chair. However if you are someone who is looking to buy a chair for both purposes i.e work and also play games for couple of hours then its definitely worth looking at buying the Steelcase Gesture.
Whether or not you will buy this gaming chair depends on a lot of factors. Do not go into buying this chair only because NICKMERCS uses it.
While it is indeed a solid reason to consider buying this unit, it can’t be your deciding factor.
Keeping all these determinants in mind, you can consider buying it. Though it is priced high, it is, after all, an investment for your lower back and arms.
Steelcase Gesture’s Alternative: OP Seat Grandmaster
The OP Seat Grandmaster is the good alternative to Steelcase Gesture.
Why?
First of all, the OP Seat Grandmaster has the looks of a gaming chair, something that the Steelcase Gesture lacks. 🙂
The OP Seat Grandmaster is made out of cold molded foam and highly breathable leather. Overall, it provides the right amount of comfort and support. Thanks to the chair’s multiple adjustment features, it can be used by a wide range of users.
The chair’s armrest is flexible and moves in four different directions. Thus your arms get all the rest you need while gaming. The lower back angle can be relaxed, and the lumbar pillow provides the ideal amount of support.
A gaming chair is going to impact and change your gaming experience. So make sure you opt for a chair that is suited to your comfort.
The Steelcase Gesture is, of course one of the top 3 recommendations that you should definitely consider.
