Who is xQc: A Background
xQc aka xQcOW made a name for himself playing Overwatch as a tank player for teams such as Team EnVyUs. He became widely recognized in the Overwatch community thanks to his ability to predict his opponents’ movements and showcase this talent in online skirmishes with other players.
He bought a fancy headset, a new mouse pad, and, of course, a nice chair. We had a few questions: which chair did he purchase, and how did it perform in the long run?
That’s why we researched about his chair and then wrote this article.

If you don’t believe us, believe the professionals. xQc is a pro gamer. xQc is in the spotlight pretty much every day and his chairs tend to be the topic of discussion among fans and opponents alike. With xQc as a star professional gamer, his chair is getting more attention than most gaming chairs.
It is the Herman Miller Embody, a versatile chair meant for both gaming and office usage.
What you will see is that the xQc stream setup changes from month to month. That’s because xQc isn’t one to be tied down to a single design. He has an aggressive schedule that takes him all over the world in which he can’t predict what he’ll need in a given month.
This means he needs flexibility in his ever-growing arsenal of equipment and materials. And what better way to accommodate the need for flexibility than with a chair designed with just that in mind?

xQc’s Chair: The Herman Miller Embody Review
The HM Embody chair delivers dynamic, healthy support—all day, every day for employees sitting at their workstations. This highly adjustable chair offers a more beneficial sitting experience by not straining the body in any one position.
It features a deep seat and back with intermittent curves that encourage movement as you change postures throughout the day. We’ll be going more into detail in the following review.
This chair is constructed with Herman Miller’s proven, high-end mechanism and unique pixelated support system throughout the seat and back. The HM Embody uses a Pixelated Support system that redistributes your weight so it’s evenly spread over the chair’s contours.
This system makes it easier for you to move and breathe while also making you feel less stressed and more comfortable during long workdays.
This frame is made using durable diecast aluminum, which adds a premium-quality feel to the chair while ensuring minimal impact on the earth. It also has a steel component, which makes it durable and resistant to the environment.
Also, being 95% recyclable, this is definitely a chair for environment lovers!
It’s a great chair for daily, prolonged use including in an office, workspace, for gaming, etc.!
The Herman Miller Embody chair was designed by Jeff Weber and the late Bill Stumpf. They wanted to create a chair that would be your “second skin.” It is a collaboration of four different materials designed to give you the support and flexibility you need.
Its ergonomic layers work together to support your muscles and joints, minimizing fatigue and maximizing comfort during long periods of sitting.
Its most striking feature is that it has the ability to fit various body types and sizes. Generally, chairs are intended for a particular group of people, but not the Embody.
So, it becomes an optimal choice for an office chair that multiple people will use.
It strikes an outstanding balance between firm and soft and is an excellent combination of support and comfort. It has just enough padding to feel the floating sensation, experience flexibility, and also sit pleasantly for hours on end.
Ease of Assembly
The Herman Miller Embody chair comes with easy assembly, a hassle-free experience, and most models come fully assembled. With all the hardware already attached, and all components pre-installed, this eco-friendly chair is ready to go right out of the box.
If not, every product comes only with the parts that are described and explicit instructions. All they ask is that you’re ready to assemble the product after receiving it.
Pneumatic Seat Height Adjustment
Embody your seat in complete comfort with the generous padding and precise pneumatic height adjustment mechanisms. The Embody’s unique geometric architecture generates this capability so that you can find the proper position to relax in.
It delivers a consistently comfortable place, regardless of people’s different sizes and weights.
In addition to being unique among office chairs, this is an ergonomic feature that helps prevent musculoskeletal problems such as the back, shoulder, and neck pain. You can easily adjust the height of the seat simply by pulling a lever.
The chair is designed to work comfortably from one position or easily alternate positions as your needs change throughout the day.
Seat Depth Adjustment
Designed specifically for users of all heights and sizes, the Embody chair’s seat depth adjustment feature allows you to adjust the seat or backrest position. This simple change allows everyone-from children to the tall adults-to sit comfortably while also improving circulation and balance through greater adjustability.
So, now you can instantly find your sweet spot and reduce pressure on your thigh and back with this feature.
Embody synchronizes its seat and back angles quickly and easily with a clever combination of simple controls and automatic movements. This results in an entirely open-angle torso.
Designed to support healthy posture, the tilt relieves pressure on the lower spinal discs and hips while improving circulation to the legs and reducing stress on muscles through an improved position.
It also redistributes the pressure points and is thus suited for long workdays!
Arm-height and Width Adjustment
The Embody chair comes with a height-adjustable armrest, providing the possibility to adjust both arms’ height to get them in the ergonomically correct position. An armrest on one or both sides of your chair can provide you with a stable platform for resting your arm or elbow.
It will meet your body at the proper posture angle, and in doing so, relieves the stress that builds up in your neck and shoulders by keeping them aligned in a natural position.
Plus, the arm-width adjustment allows you to increase or decrease the width of your armrests as needed. By adding or subtracting armrests, you can adapt your seat to accommodate the changing tasks associated with your workday.
This innovation makes the Embody incredibly flexible so that whatever your workspace requires today, it will be ready for changes tomorrow.
For example, if your work requires increased wrist stability during fine motor tasks, restrict the armrests to provide more flexion at the elbow. If you find yourself straining for a mouse and keyboard with your outstretched arms, widen the armrests to provide a broader support base for reaching!
Tilt Lock Adjustment
The Herman Miller Embody chair is designed to put you in total command. With a tilt lock, you can pivot your back forward or backward without fighting how gravity affects the recliner. The result is a quiet chair that allows for multiple postures in any situation.
You sit in a unique position using a tilt lock — a halfway point between sitting up and lying down. This gives you the option to return to a neutral posture whenever you need to get things done quickly!
The reclining back system keeps your body comfortably supported during reading activities. Sitting at a slight backward tilt gives your eyes easier access to a screen or document, improving the ergonomics of your workspace. It’s suitable for the versatile tasks performed in the workspace!
However, even though the Embody is an amazingly designed and beautiful chair, but it is missing some key ergonomic adjustments that were on the Aeron and Equa. It does not have the ability to adjust arm depth, lumbar support, or back height, which are three critical adjustments that are common on most office chairs.
Yes, it still has an excellent scope for adjustability, but we expect more from such a high-priced chair. If you feel very strongly about having specific adjustments (or if you have many issues and tweaks with your current work chair), we would not recommend this chair.
But otherwise, despite a few ergonomic omissions, Herman Miller’s Embody still offers true multi-suite comfort.
The back support of the Embody moves and adjusts with its occupant, moving forward or back as they recline. The Embody Back Support offers long-term relief from the stress in your lower back. Its supportive spine follows your natural contours to provide low-force support for your body’s weight, while its narrow back allows you to twist and reach.
With a rocker base, independent back recline tilt system, and optimal lumbar support, it optimizes your comfort and productivity at your desk or in front of a computer screen. Plus, it has a unique Backfit Adjustment feature. When you need to shift positions, this innovative chair can comfortably move with you – without forcing you out of its healthy support.
Designed to support your unique body shape and movements, it allows you always to maintain a natural position!
Embody vs Aeron

- Try the Adjustable PostureFit Sacral/Lumbar support. Two individual pads flex independently and can be adjust to fit the curve of your spine
Looking at the Aeron vs Embody debate from a price standpoint, it seems like the HM Aeron is a much better bargain, as it has a lower base price for the chair. But when you read their specs, the Embody comes out on top of significant comparisons and isn’t that much more expensive when adding features and functionality to the Aeron. Overall, if you’re going for practicality along with the price, HM’s Embody is a better choice!
Both HM Embody and HM Aeron both have an excellent reputation and feedback from the end users. The two chairs are very different, but many designers love the Aeron for its form-fitting back support and mesh seat. On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Embody, which is much more traditional in design and features a four-layer seat cushion that sits lower to the ground than the Aeron.
The Embody came in first place for its versatility. The chair offers a more refined experience than the Aeron, and there are many more options with adjustable armrests, tilt limiters, and seat depth/height adjustments. It has a flexible frame, which gives you a floating feeling in contrast to the restricting design of the Aeron.
With the Aeron, people either love it or hate it. But the Embody reviews are more uniform, with most people saying that it suits their body type, work, and adjustment requirements. We conclude that it depends on what you’re looking for. The Aeron is a halfway point designed for working and tasking only, whereas the Embody was created for a broader range of people and tasks!
We felt that the Embody is basically the modernized version of the Aeron. It has a very minimalistic, sleek, simplistic overall look. This also contributes to its durability and build quality. So, we found that the Embody is more durable, thanks to its robust steel aluminum frame and fabric covering.
In conclusion, we award the durability criterion to the Embody simply because of the easy maintenance and high-quality components. However, it was a hard choice as both the Aeron and Embody represent the pinnacle of ergonomic office seating.
Embody vs Gesture
- Connect fabric is 100% polyester
- Wheels for hard flooring
- Ergonomic office chair - features include adjustable seat depth, fully adjustable arms, adjustable lumbar, seat height adjustment, recline tension adjustment, 4 position recline lock, wrapped...
- All day comfort and back support - Gesture’s seat and back move as a synchronized system, following your body as you move throughout the day to ensure long-term support
The Embody chair by Herman Miller is a stunning example of the mesh of ergonomics and aesthetics.
In comparison, the Steelcase Gesture offers a breath-taking contemporary design as well. Both are ideal for high traffic at home or work.
Both chairs are the most expensive models from their respective companies. However, at the halfway point, the Gesture is significantly higher priced than the Embody.
We do not have a definite winner for this criterion as it’s subjective and varies with different people. Both chairs are very comfortable, though the Embody has more padding and offers several performance adjustments to dial in its fit.
It also has a wider seat, and the pixelated support system distributes weight evenly across the chair such that your body fits the contours. It’s very versatile and includes all body types-including both short and tall people.
On the other hand, the Gesture’s 3D LiveBack technology completely changes the chair experience than the standard flat recline. This technology curves with the user’s back, giving more natural support for their spine.
Plus, the Gesture 360 arm moves like the human arm. This innovation makes it easier for people to sit and put their computers at eye level and text without their necks in unhealthy angles.
There are many exceptional features that both chairs offer. Thus, it comes down to what you, as a consumer, prioritize.
The Steelcase Gesture is a solid chair in its own right. The combination of more complex materials and soft, squishy leather is effective, albeit a little heavy, once assembled.
But a more problematic issue arises over the long term (and especially for that price): a large percentage of plastic components. So, the Embody won out over the Gesture for overall longevity in our real-world stress tests. It is a more durable chair in terms of construction and the quality of materials used.
Embody vs Mirra 2
- Features: tilt limiter with seat angle adjustment, adjustable FlexFront seat, adjustable arms, AirWeave 2 woven suspension seat, and carpet casters. Seat Depth- 16.25-18 Inches
- Lightweight design, offering a combination of simplicity, flexibility, and personalized ergonomics
- The Butterfly back combines the comfort of upholstery with the strength of polymer to provide back support; Fixed Seat Depth
- Recommended for people who need to quickly flex between individual activities and group work
When searching for a new office chair, it is common to find Mirra 2 and Embody two as top options. Both of these chairs come from the same manufacturer – Herman Miller. This company has got some pretty expensive products in their lineup.
However, compared to most Herman Miller products, including the Embody, the Mirra 2 is the budget choice. However, this is also felt in the functionality of the two chairs.
The Embody and the Mirra 2 are excellent examples of the difference in prices that a couple of hundred dollars can make. While you can admire the simplicity, elegance, and adjustability of the Embody chair, it doesn’t quite measure up to its competition if you compare it by price.
However, it comes with more features than most of its competitors.
It’s designed to help you do your best work by keeping you comfortable and supported with every move you make. It features a flexible yet supportive seat and back, a unique flexible lumbar support, and integrated adjustability throughout.
Plus, it has a steel aluminum frame with four layers of high-quality fabric, which is suitable for working longer hours.
On the other hand, the graphite frame and base of the Mirra 2 provide firm support for your backside with little padding. It gives your spine a great deal of support but can be too hard for some users, making it uncomfortable after long periods of use.
The Mirra 2 is a great chair, but our preferred choice is the Embody. This is primarily due to Embody’s superior padding, seat size, adjustability, and back support.
If you’re looking for a high-quality chair, it pays to go for Embody. It has been designed to withstand consistent use and is made with heavy-duty materials, including an aluminum frame and durable fabric.
Additionally, the chair has custom-made parts that give it longevity. As opposed to that, Mirra 2 possesses a lower build quality due to its more affordable construction.
The Herman Miller Embody is the chair you see xQc sitting on during his streams, and it is one of the most preferred gaming chairs in the pro gaming scene. Fans are always asking about the xQc chair, so here’s your answer!
